A bug in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War appears to be resetting players' progress toward weapon camouflages.

Reports of the bug began appearing right after the game's launch in mid-November and have persisted since. Black Ops Cold War subreddit user u/Horiyama_fan-_- posted a screenshot Saturday of a camouflage for the Bullfrog submachine gun from their inventory. The camouflage is equipped, indicating they had unlocked it, but the game marked it as still being four Longshot medals away.

"I selected the camo as you can see above before closing the game and when I reopened it, the game took away my kills but as you can see I still have the camo equipped," Horimiya_fan-_- wrote in a follow-up comment.

It's unclear what causes the bug. Some players have experienced it after multiplayer lobbies disband, while others, such as Horimiya_fan-_-, say closing the game caused the disconnect between player achievements and in-game rewards.

Neither publisher Activision nor developers Treyarch and Raven Software have acknowledged the bug. It's unknown when a fix will arrive, or if one is in development at all.

Unlocking camouflages in Call of Duty can be incredibly tedious, as players must repeat often difficult tasks dozens of times with dozens of guns.

"It really is a demotivating glitch, like what's the point of grinding for camos if grinding is only going to result in a waste of time?" said Horimiya_fan-_-.
