Pokémon GO will celebrate Pokémon Day Feb. 27, bringing Armored Mewtwo back to the game alongside party hat Pokémon and Clone Pokémon. The in-game event will take place from Feb. 25 at 4 p.m. ET to March 2 at 4 p.m. ET.

Pokémon GO Armored Mewtwo

Pokémon Day commemorates the release of the first Pokémon video games in Japan in 1996. It coincides with the release of Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution on Netflix.

Armored Mewtwo will appear in five-star raids throughout the event with the special charged attack Psystrike.

Pokémon GO Party Hat Pokémon

Pikachu and Eevee sporting party hats will appear in the wild for players to catch. Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle will hatch from 7 km eggs wearing party hats. Shiny versions of the party hat Pokémon will be available.

A Raid Day March 1 from 2 to 5 p.m. local time will offer players the chance to catch two more party hat Pokémon:

  • Party hat Nidorino will appear in two-star raids
  • Party hat Gengar with Lick and Psychic will appear in four-star raids

Shiny versions of both Pokémon will be available.

Players will receive up to five Raid Passes for free by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms. No more than one Raid Pass can be held at a time.

Pokémon GO Clone Pokémon

Cloned Pokémon figure prominently in the story of Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution. As a result, they'll be available to catch in Pokémon GO. The cloned Pokémon will include Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise, and they'll appear in four-star raids and in snapshots taken during the event.

Pokémon GO Pokémon Day Bonuses

Throughout the event, players will be able to make up to two special trades each day.
