Niantic Labs has officially unveiled the Spotlight Hour dates and featured Pokemon for the month of August in Pokemon GO.

Spotlight Hour has rapidly become a fan-favorite weekly event for Pokemon GO trainers. For an hour each week, Niantic picks a Pokemon to take over the wild with increased spawning rate. Not only does this provide a chance for trainers to catch rarer Pokemon and fill out their PokeDex, it also occurs at local time instead of at a set time across the world—making it extremely convenient for trainers whether they reside in New York City or Tokyo.

Pokemon GO August 2021 Spotlight Hours

Niantic published the full list in its official news blog post detailing all the other events of August 2021. On top of weekly raids featuring Sinnoh legendaries such as Dialga and Palkia alongside a two-day Community Day event with Eevee, trainers can look forward to their usual weekly Spotlight Hour programming.

Spotlight Hour will take place every Tuesday in August from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time. There are five Tuesdays in August, during which trainers can expect to see the following Pokemon and bonuses:

  • Aug. 3—Magnemite, 2x Stardust per catch
  • Aug. 10—East Sea Shellos, 2x XP per catch
  • Aug. 17—West Sea Shellos, 2x Candy per catch
  • Aug. 24—Unnamed Pokemon, 2x Candy per transfer
  • Aug. 31—Unnamed Pokemon, 2x XP per evolution

There is currently no word on what the last two Pokemon of the month will be. However, given their associated bonuses, it's possible that the Aug. 24 appearance will feature a powerful single-form rare spawn and the Aug. 31 appearance will showcase a Pokemon with a quick or intriguing evolution family.
