Here are our best tips and tricks to take down Azelf quickly in Pokemon GO.
Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit have taken over five-star raids from Lugia this month and will continue to appear through to Oct. 1, 2021. Each has its own domain in the real world to simulate the different areas of the Sinnoh region where their lakes reside.
Trainers will likely remember Azelf from the Sinnoh region as it protects Sinnoh's Lake Valor. Its PokeDex number is 482. Also known as the "Willpower" Pokemon, Azelf is said to have "endowed humans with the determination needed to face any of life's difficulties."
Trainers will only be able to encounter Azelf in the Americas and Greenland.
Pokemon GO Azelf Raid Guide
Azelf, like the others in this trio, is a pure psychic-type. So, it has the same vulnerabilities (bug, ghost, and dark-types) and resistances (fighting and fellow psychic-types) we've listed previously. The best counter choices to take down Azelf as a Raid boss are:
- Chandelure (Hex + Shadow Ball)
- Gengar (Lick + Shadow Ball)
- Darkrai (Snarl + Shadow Ball)
- Weavile (Feint + Foul Play)
- Genesect (Fury Cutter + X-Scissor)
- Volcarona (Bug Bite + Bug Buzz)
A few honorable mentions in the event trainers don't have any of the Pokemon listed above are Absol, Honchkrow, and Giratina. This Pokemon can have a five-star Raid CP threshold of 44,972. When caught, its best moveset contains the quick move Confusion and charged move Future Sight.
