Here are our top tips for finding success in the Pokemon GO Battle League during the first leg of the Ultra tier.

The Pokemon GO Battle League is the most popular multiplayer PvP feature in the mobile app to date. The league features tiers in which there are different levels of criteria meant to close the gap between trainers competing for the same goal. Each tier runs once and repeats during a season.

The first leg of the Ultra League and Ultra League Remix kicked off on Monday, Sept. 13, and will run through to Sept. 27.

Pokemon GO Battle Ultra League Breakdown

To compete in the Ultra League, trainers will need to have a Pokemon team in which no single creature surpasses a CP threshold of 2500. The Ultra League Remix also applies this rule while banning the following Pokemon:

  • Swampert
  • Clefable
  • Alolan Muk
  • Empoleon
  • Togekiss
  • Altered Forme Giratina
  • Cresselia
  • Talonflame
  • Melmetal
  • Obstagoon

We've already put together a short list of Pokemon that would make the perfect Ultra League team, but we'll go ahead and recap them here:

  • Swampert
  • Registeel
  • Cresselia

It's no surprise that two of the Remix-banned Pokemon have appeared on this list. If it's not broken, why fix it, right? Unfortunately, this won't fly for the Remix, so here are a few suggestions on who else can be substituted for Swampert and Cresselia.

A strong Ultra League Remix team could include:

  • Roserade
  • Galarian Stunfisk
  • Regirock
  • Lucario
  • Jellicent

The next tier up, known as the Master League, picks up immediately after the Ultra League concludes on Monday, Sept. 27. The exact turnover will happen at 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT).
