Kanto psychic-type Drowzee has been chosen as the latest to star in the Pokemon GO Spotlight Hour event.
Niantic Labs' Spotlight Hour can be a great way to earn candies, experience, and perfect IV spawns of powerful Pokemon. Since its introduction in February 2020, Spotlight Hour has become an integral part of the Pokemon GO trainer's experience.
Pokemon GO Drowzee Spotlight Hour
This week on Tuesday, Mar. 9, trainers will be able to encounter herds (candles?) of Drowzee roaming about their neighborhood at an increased rate from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. according to their local timezone. Trainers who catch enough Drowzee and amass the candies to evolve them will earn twice the XP for doing so.
Drowzee is a pure-psychic type hailing from the Kanto region. Longtime fans may remember it from the Indigo League television show during which a Drowzee hypnotized an entire town. Also fittingly known as the "Hypnosis" Pokemon, it is said that if your nose itches while you're asleep, it means a Drowzee is attempting to eat your dreams. Its PokeDex number is 96.
Niantic released Drowzee at launch in July 2016. Its shiny form debuted two years later alongside the Psychic Spectacular 2018 event. Trainers wouldn't see its Shadow form until Aug. 2019, and a shiny shadow variant was unveiled in Oct. 2020.
Drowzee can be evolved into Hypno using 50 candies. Hypno, itself, was a decently powerful psychic-type in the beginning with a CP ceiling of 2363. Unfortunately, it has since been outclassed by the likes of Gardevoir and Mewtwo.
