Pokemon GO Minun-exclusive research tasks may be circulating for trainers having poor luck finding it.

Niantic Labs implemented a new Hoenn-themed collection event last Tuesday, Jan. 19. Known as the "Hoenn Celebration," it will run until Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. local time and tasks trainers with catching specific Hoenn Pokemon—including fan favorites like Mudkip, Torchic, Treecko, Absol, Plusle, and Minun. Some can be found in the wild overland map while others require the completion of tasks for an encounter.

Minun is one such "problem child," resulting in confused and irate trainers. Fortunately, we can explain just how to add it to any collection.

There is no official guarantee that any research task will absolutely reward a trainer with an encounter with Minun. However, some trainers report that the specific task "Catch 11 Pokemon" exclusively gives trainers a chance to catch both Plusle or Minun upon completion. It seems that there is simply no separating these two.

Minun is a pure electric-type with a PokeDex number of 312. It has a maximum CP of 1,694, attack stat of 147, defense of 150, and stamina of 155. When effectively powered-up, it can reach a hitpoint total of 134. Its best moveset contains the quick move Spark with the charged move Thunderbolt.

This Pokemon is best known for its self-sacrificing supportive nature. It will constantly "shorts out the electricity in its body to create brilliant showers of sparks to cheer on its teammates," according to its PokeDex description. It debuted in Pokemon GO with the main release of Hoenn residents on Dec. 8, 2017. Its shiny variant released during Pokemon GO Fest 2018.
