Pokemon GO will slip and slide into the 2022 Water Festival starting on May 12, 10:00 a.m. local time. Trainers have a chance to encounter Water-type Pokemon of all kinds in many different ways throughout the course of the event. This article will let you know what Pokemon you're likely to see by completing Field Research tasks.

Pokemon GO Water Festival 2022 Field Research Task Encounters

By completing Field Research tasks, players have a likely chance to encounter the following Pokemon:

  • Binacle
  • Carvanha
  • Dewpider
  • Luvdisc
  • Magikarp
  • Wailmer

With the exception of Dewpider, all of these Pokemon will have a chance to be shiny. This is the first time Shiny Binacle, a dual Rock/Water type, will be available to players. Its shiny form trades its standard orange and brown palette for red and green coloring.

Dewpider makes its debut in Pokemon GO with this event. Only Dewpider can be caught in the wild, but by collecting 50 Dewpider candy you can obtain its evolution, Araquanid.

If players have luck on their side, they may encounter these two Pokemon in their Field Research encounters:

  • Lapras
  • Marill

Both of these Pokemon have a chance to be shiny. For the duration of the 2022 Water Festival, Lapras will be appearing in a costume. Until the end of the event, players will encounter Lapras wearing a scarf in both standard and shiny form.

The 2022 Water Festival will officially end on May 20, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
