Pokemon GO World Tourism Day: Everything You Need to Know

Pokemon GO World Tourism Day is the newest event announced by Niantic Labs. The goal of the event is to connect trainers all over the world, igniting the spirit of travel within them all with special opportunities to catch unique Pokémon. New cosmetics are in the shop, along with other benefits to participating trainers. It was planned to coincide with the United Nations summit this week, and Niantic has partnered with United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) for this event.

Here's everything you need to know about the World Tourism Day in Pokemon GO.

Pokemon GO World Tourism Day Facts

The event lasts for a total of six days from Sept. 26 to Oct. 1. New features will be active from 4 p.m. the first day — today — until 4 p.m. the last day.

Some benefits players can take advantage of during this time are a 75% decrease in stardust needed for trading, twice the experience for spinning PokéStops you haven't visited before, and specially themed research tasks.

For players who enjoy collecting new cosmetics, there is now a UNWTO shirt in the Style Shop with the organizations logo on it.

Region-specific Pokémon are now available to hatched from 5 km eggs in their specific region. This includes Carnivine, Volbeat, Lunatone, Seviper, Heracross and Tauros.

Mr. Mime will be making its debut for European trainers during this event.

As usual, the chances to get the shiny version of the Pokémon mentioned here are high. It will be worth your while to lace up your running shoes and hatch as many eggs as possible.

It's currently unknown if this event has anything to do with the global shifting of spawn points experienced yesterday evening.
