Pokémon Home's release date has yet to be announced, but Nintendo states it will arrive in early 2020 on Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android. As we've officially entered 2020, a more exact release date will likely be revealed in the near future. For now, here's everything else we know about Pokémon Home.
Pokémon Home: What is it?
Pokémon Home will be a cloud-based service allowing users to transfer and store Pokémon among various Pokémon games. Users will also be able to trade Pokémon with other Pokémon players who also have the app installed.
What Games Will Pokémon Home Work With?
Pokémon Home will function with Pokémon from Pokémon GO, Pokémon Bank, Pokémon Sword and Shield, and Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu! and Let's Go Eevee!. That compatibility with Pokémon Bank also indicates past main-line Pokémon games on the 3DS will be able to add Pokémon to users' Pokémon Home collections.
According to the above illustration from Nintendo, only Pokémon Sword and Shield will be able to receive Pokémon from Pokémon Home. The other titles will only be able to transfer Pokémon into Pokémon Home, and will be unable to receive them.
Although Pokémon Sword and Shield will be able to receive Pokémon from Home, it's not immediately clear which Pokémon that includes. The most likely outcome is players will only be able to transfer Pokémon into Sword and Shield that already appear in the games' Pokédexes.
