Pokemon Sword and Shield Gigantamaxing: How Does it Work?

Pokemon Sword and Shield Gigantamaxing has overtaken Dynamaxing in the spotlight with a new trailer reveal for the upcoming Pokemon RPG for the Nintendo Switch. The Pokemon Company seemed keen to show off the new feature as not only an additional size and stat upgrade on top of Dynamaxing, but also as a visual upgrade to affected Pokemon.

At this point, it isn't clear how Gigantamaxing will really differ from Dynamaxing, or what the requirements for Gigantamaxing your Pokemon will be. It does seem like a Pokemon must already by Dynamaxed in order to be Gigantamaxed — and we know from the Nintendo E3 event that Dynamaxing is a once-per-battle occurrence — so it's not clear whether Gigantamaxing will require an additional resource or cooldown.

We do know, however, that Gigantamaxing will probably be exclusive to Galar region Pokemon, and it will unlock a special G-move for certain Pokemon.
