We've listed and explained all four Pokemon available as part of Pokemon UNITE's Free Rotation feature.

Free Rotation is a mechanic meant to allow players to try out Pokemon on the roster they don't already own. This allows them to see how they perform in matches before committing the Aeos Coins and/or Gems to purchase the corresponding licenses. Pokemon UNITE isn't the first game of its kind to have this feature—or one similar.

Even better, the Pokemon rotate every week, providing the opportunity to test an entire roster over time.

Pokemon UNITE Free Rotation: Oct. 10-16

The Pokemon available as part of the Free Rotation this week are:

  • Absol
  • Greninja
  • Lucario
  • Wigglytuff

As always, we've included a short introduction to each of the listed combatants below:

Absol is a melee speedster who specializes in melee physical attacks—meaning it benefits more from Attack items than Sp. Attack. Its highest ratings are Mobility and Offense. Speedsters like Absol are commonly used as "junglers" who patrol the middle area and switch between top and bottom lanes. Its passive, Super Luck, increases its critical hit chance permanently. Those who enjoy playing Absol can purchase it from the Aeos Emporium for 10,000 Aeos Coins or 575 Aeos Gems.

Greninja is a ranged attacker that specializes in physical attacks. Therefore, it also benefits more from Attack boosts than Sp. Attack. Its highest rating is Offense with Mobility and Scoring tied for second. Players may find it difficult to play Greninja successfully due to its passive, Torrent—making this Pokemon more effective when kept at a lower HP total. Players can purchase Greninja from the Aeos Emporium for 10,000 Aeos Coins or 575 Aeos Gems if they don't already own it.

Lucario is a melee physical all-rounder that prioritizes regular attack over special attack. It is one of the hardier middle section—or "jungle"—natives with a specifically interconnected kit. Its highest rating is in Mobility with Offense and Scoring tied for second and Endurance in third. Steadfast, its passive ability, shields it from damage and buffs its speed at low health. Players can purchase Lucario's UNITE license from the Aeos Emporium for 10,000 Aeos Coins or 575 Aeos Gems.

Wigglytuff is a melee special supporter that prioritizes special attack over regular attack. Despite its "support" role, players typically use Wigglytuff as a mixture of crowd control and muscle—essentially trading part of Snorlax's defense for mobility. Its highest rating is in Support with Endurance and Mobility tied for second and Offense and Scoring tied for last. Wigglytuff's passive, Charm, makes opposing Pokemon infatuated with it and approach it against their will for a short time on a cooldown. Players can purchase its UNITE license from the Aeos Emporium for 8,000 Aeos Coins or 460 Aeos Gems.

The next set of Free Rotation Pokemon will be revealed on Sunday, Oct. 17.
