Private Carrera was in the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games up until the third in the series. In those games, she could only be unlocked by inputting cheat codes. Is she available in the remastered versions released Friday?

Private Carrera is something of a controversial character in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series. Silvio Porretta, an artist on the first three games, said she was based on the porn star Asia Carrera in a 2017 interview with Jenkem. Meanwhile, Ralph D'Amato, who led production on all the Tony Hawk games through Project 8, told YouTuber oddheader that the truth was slightly different.

In that 2020 interview, D'Amato said Private Carrera was created by character designer Noel Hines. Hines' favorite car was the Porsche Carrera, which led to the character's name. D'Amato also said Asia Carrera heard the rumor that the character was based on her, and she visited developer Neversoft's office to check out the studio.

Unfortunately for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater historians, Private Carrera doesn't appear to be in the remastered version of the game. Exactly why Activision removed the character remains unknown, but it's possible the association with a porn star — however tenuous — had something to do with it.
