A PUBG console hotfix will go live Weenesday to quell the uptick in game client crashes, developer PUBG Corp announced Tuesday.

The server maintenance will take place starting at 2 a.m. ET on Wednesday and continue until around 6 a.m. ET, according to a tweet from the official PUBG Support Twitter account. During this downtime players will be unable to connect to game servers.

The fix will "alleviate instances of game crashes." How complete a solution that alleviation will be remains unclear.

PUBG Console players began reporting an increase in game crashes following the release of Update 5.2, which hit liver servers Nov. 26. Crashes typically appeared in one of two variants. One froze the game entirely, causing a manual console restart. The other would send players back to the console home screen.

PUBG Corp opened a public investigation into the problem the day after the patch's release, requesting that players send in full crash reports to help determine the cause of the trouble.
