PUBG Mosin-Nagant: New Sniper Rifle Added in PUBG Update 7.1

PUBG Update 7.1 added the Mosin-Nagant sniper rifle to Vikendi and Erangel when it arrived on test servers Tuesday.
The Mosin-Nagant is the first shared stat weapon in PUBG history. Its in-game statistics are identical to those of the pre-existing bolt action sniper rifle, the Kar98k.
PUBG Corp Adds Mosin-Nagant in PUBG Update 7.1
"We know weapon choice is important to you, but there is also the problem of there eventually being just too much choice, especially when a certain few weapons remain the most popular picks over everything else," PUBG Corp wrote in the patch notes. "We want to keep adding new weapons to the game but at some point finding the exact gun you want would suffer and as the overall list grows, maintaining balance between everything would also become more difficult."
The Mosin-Nagant will feature its own look and sound, but will be functionally the same as the Kar98k in an attempt to add diversity to the weapon list without diluting it.
PUBG Corp seeks feedback from players about the decision to add shared stat weapons.
"The Mosin is coded as its own weapon, so we could always adjust its stats in the future to make it unique, but we'd like to at least test out this idea first," the developer wrote.
The Mosin arrives in PUBG Season 7 alongside the return of a reworked Vikendi to the active map rotation.
