League of Legends developer Riot Games has introduced a new streaming service for fans of League of Legends esports. Pro View will be live for the summer split and allow fans to watch the game in different perspectives and allow different features.

Pro View will be available for purchase through watch.lolesports.com and proceeds will directly support teams in the LEC and LCS. So far, it seems the feature is only available in those regions and not in the LCK, LMS, and LPL. Those regions will supposedly receive the feature over time. Some of the features are listed below:

  • Multiview: Watch up to four synchronized streams (POV or main event) at once during live games and VODs
  • Advanced Timeline: Kills, tower takedowns and other big plays are marked right on the timeline, and clicking a marker jumps to that moment in the game
  • Watch With Friends: Share a personalized Pro View URL to synchronize your timeline with friends.
  • All Pro View features will available on VODs as well as during live games

While it may seem strange that the product costs money, it's a massive step for League of Legends esports allowing for another revenue stream for teams and the league. Many in the community have asked for these type of features while watching games so it should appeal to many hardcore fans. Lolesports shared their goal for the new viewing platform.

"Our goal is to create a holistic viewing experience that’s optimized for League of Legends esports while still allowing fans to watch on the streaming platform of their choice. We are committed to growing the product in a way that makes watching and interacting with our sport a more engaging experience."

The LCS starts on June 1 while the LEC starts on June 7.
