Riot Games to Support Third-Party Tournaments for Valorant Esports Scene
By Nathan Fusco

Riot Games revealed their beginning steps for Valorant's esports scene and its plans to support third-party tournaments and an amateur scene. While League of Legends is completely locked down by Riot Games, and all tournaments are run through them, it seems Riot wants to have a slightly more relaxed approach for Valorant.
And that starts with the VALORANT Community Competition Guidelines which guides third-party organizers in how to host a Valorant tournament. This will be critical when the game first launches. Having years of experience running League of Legends esports, Riot Games is making sure to get ahead of the curve for Valorant.
We know VALORANT has the makings of a global esport, but want to make sure we're building it right - and together.@RiotMagus talks first steps toward building the VALORANT esports ecosystem and our community tournament support: https://t.co/2b9Wk4zPNj pic.twitter.com/WGICR4XJsT

These are just the first steps, but they're important ones. Even if the game has yet to launch to the public, it's clear Valorant was built to be an esport and it will have a lot of pressure to succeed in the wake of Overwatch and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, one of which isn't going anywhere any time soon, while the other is struggling to keep afloat.
All eyes will be on Riot Games and Valorant for the rest of 2020, and it seems Riot Games is ready to take that challenge.
