Rocket League 2022 World Championship: Dates, Format, How to Watch, Prize Pool

The time has come for the best Rocket League teams in the world to face off. The 2022 Rocket League World Championship is finally here for the first time in three years.

The World Championship is the final showing of the RLCS season. After an entire year of the RLCS season, the World Championship is finally here.

All information for the RLWC is already available, so let's waste no time and dive right into the details of the event.

Rocket League 2022 World Championship: Dates

Starting this week on Aug. 4, the RLWC will begin. The event will be split up between two different phases, the wild card and the main event. We'll discuss more of the phases later, but let's get back to the dates.

The wild card phase will start on Aug. 4 and will take place over the course of four days. The end of the wild card phase is on Aug. 7.

The main event phase will start on Aug. 9 and will take place over the course of six days. The end of the main event phase is on Aug. 14.

Rocket League 2022 World Championship: Format

As we mentioned earlier, there are two phases, the wild card, and the main event.

The wild card is made up of 16 teams. These teams play in a swiss-style tournament, very similar to a round-robin. After winning three games, the team will advance to the next round, lose three games and you are eliminated. Each team will always play another team with the same record. Eight of the 16 teams will qualify.

For the main event, 16 teams will be playing. Eight teams that already qualified for the main event and eight teams out of the wild card. Win two games and move on to the final phase, lose two games and deal with elimination. This phase will be made up of two groups of eight teams and after the phase is over, four teams from each group will move on.

The final phase has eight teams facing off for the crown. This phase is a single-elimination tournament and at the end, we will see the overall winner of the tournament.

Rocket League 2022 World Championship: How to Watch

The World Championship will be available in two places. The main stream will take place on the Rocket League Twitch Channel and the Rocket League Esports YouTube Channel

There will be two alternate streams available. The first is on Rocket League Esports Twitch Channel and the second will again be on the Rocket League Esports YouTube Channel.

Rocket League 2022 World Championship: Prize Pool

The total prize pool is $2,085,000. First place takes home $600,000, second $400,000 and third $200,000. The rest of the money is split up amongst the rest of the teams depending on their final ranking.
