Shadow Priest's rotation in Shadowlands: what is it and how do you really get the most value out of your spells?

As it stands, Shadow Priests remain one of the highest performing DPS classes.

No matter what content you are doing with Shadow Priest (barring Pet Battles, but even then) you must have Shadowform active. Exclusive to a Shadow Priest, Shadowform provides the user with a 10% spell damage increase, a no brainer to have active.

Shadow Priest Rotation Shadowlands: What is it?

Insanity is the Shadow Priest's resource, and will be spent on higher value spells that will burst and whittle down your opponent.

Rotation

1) Make sure Shadow Word: Pain and Vampiric Touch are applied on any targets you are DPSing. This means in a fight with two-three targets, have Shadow Word: Pain and Vampiric Touch applied to keep those juicy procs coming in.

2) Cast Mind Blast whenever the spell is off cooldown as your main source of Insanity generating.

3) Spend Insanity on Devouring Plague.

4) Cast Shadow Word: Death if the target is below 20% HP, or if you are forced to move in combat.

5) Bring out your Shadowfiend

6) Cast Void Eruption to enter Voidform, a Shadow Priest's major cooldown and window where they are the most powerful. In Voidform, Mind Blast has two charges, refreshes it's own cooldown, and your spell damage is increased by 20%.

While there is much more nuance to some of the other spells available in the Shadow Priest's kit, the cooldown priorities listed above will give you a solid idea of how to use Shadow Priest well.
