After being vaulted for over two years and eight months, shopping carts are finally back on the Fortnite battle island.
The v.18.40 update officially went live Tuesday, and was jam-packed full of content. However, despite the additions of the groundbreaking Naruto crossover and remixed Salvaged B.R.U.T.E.s, perhaps the star of the show was the return of the OG vehicle in Fortnite: Battle Royale history — Shopping Carts. Here's a breakdown of everything you need to know about Shopping Carts in Fortnite.
Shopping Carts in Fortnite Unvaulted: Latest Details
When word first got out from dataminers this week that Shopping Carts were being unvaulted, many in the Fortnite community were overjoyed, to say the least.
Shopping Carts were the first vehicle added to Fortnite: Battle Royale, as part of a Chapter 1 Season 4 update on May 30, 2018.
Just as the times were during that season, the concept of the item was simple — have fun.
With a capacity for a driver and passenger, players could use their terrain to naturally move faster around the map, while also not having an overpowered advantage over their enemies.
The Shopping Carts had no brakes, and could only be slowed by hitting a wall or coming to a gradual stop. Players also took damage if the cart fell from a great height.
In the Chapter 1 Season 8 update on Feb. 28, 2019, Shopping Carts were abruptly vaulted, and had remained that way for the last 992 days.
Now that they're back, feel free to scoot around with the OG vehicle by finding them at shopping and residential POIs such as Retail Row and Holly Hedges.
