Sorrowbane in WoW: Shadowlands is a notoriously powerful sword that can be obtained at the end of an arduous process to earn the Harvester of Sorrow achievement.

World of Warcraft has plenty to offer in its latest expansion pack, Shadowlands. As players explore the various realms of the dead, they may come across any number of unique or rare items planted on the map. The sword, Sorrowbane, is one such item—only able to be pulled from the ground while earning the Harvester of Sorrow achievement.

Here’s how to make Sorrowbane your own.

Sorrowbane WoW: Shadowlands

Sorrowbane is located within the Theater of Pain at 51, 48. It is a unique two-handed sword with an item level of 180. It can only be used by Retribution Paladins, Fury and Arms Warriors, and Death Knights.

Interested players will need to have four concurrent buffs active to pull the sword from the ground. Otherwise, any attempts to free it like King Arthur Pendragon will be unsuccessful. These four buffs are:

  • Two Stacks of Battle Hardened
  • Four Stacks of Edible Redcaps
  • Potion of Unusual Strength
  • Strength of Blood

Battle Hardened can be earned through the world quest, “A Few Bumps Along the Way,” at the Renounced Bastille. Be warned, however, that this buff will time out after ten minutes. Players should work in teams or perform diligently to get the stacks needed.

Players can find Edible Redcaps in Glutharn's Decay within Maldraxxus. They’ll need to consume four of them to pull the sword. However, this buff will time out after two minutes. Some players report better success in lower population realms as there would be less competition.

The Potion of Unusual Strength should be purchased from Au'larrynar on the east part of the Theater of Pain after completing the starter quests in the region.

Strength of Blood is available from Ta'tru in the Revendreth Night Market in exchange for a variety of materials. These will change every week.

Once they have both timed buffs active, players should swiftly return to the Theater of Pain either by mount or teleport scroll purchasable from One-Eyed Joby. Upon arriving, consume both potions and finally retrieve the sword.
