Splatoon fans are wondering when the next installation in the franchise, Splatoon 3, will be released.
Splatoon has made waves in Nintendo-based circles as a comical, colorful player versus player (PvP) experience based paintball-style “turf war” combat. Players can pair up with the Inklings and Octolings to follow unique stories and learn about characters on either side of the conflict.
Splatoon 3 takes the story to the “Spatlands”—a parched desert populated by “battle-hardened” warriors. The capital of the region is the city of Splatsville, known as an “adrenaline-fueled” settlement of “chaos.”
When Will Splatoon 3 Be Released?
Splatoon 3 will release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2022. Unfortunately, we have no further information on a possible release at the time of writing—including a concrete date or time neither regionally nor internationally.
Considering how close 2022 actually is, those looking to get into the franchise may want to save their money and purchase Splatoon 3 at launch instead of investing in its predecessor, Splatoon 2. However, with Nintendo remaining tight-lipped about when the sequel will come out next year, we won’t recommend against purchasing the currently available version.
According to its listing on the official Nintendo website, players will be able to follow the story of Agent 3 ”in a fight against the evil Octarian army.”
“Discover the secrets of Alterna, the Fuzzy Ooze, and how they connect to the mode's theme, ‘Return of the Mammalians.’” It read.
