Splyce to Reportedly Rebrand as MAD Lions, Build New Roster Around Humanoid

Splyce ownership OverActive Media will rebrand the League of Legends European Championship team as MAD Lions, Esportsmaníacos and ESPN report.

MAD Lions currently acts as Splyce's academy team, competing in the European Masters league and other tier two League of Legends competitions.

To complement the rebrand, the team will build a new roster around mid laner Marek "Humanoid" Brázda. Academy top laner Andrew "Orome" Popa will join the starting LEC roster, as will jungler Zhiqiang "Shadow" Zhao, support Norman "Gistick" Kaiser and AD carry Matyáš "Carzzy" Orság.

Shadow and Gistick previously played together on mousesports, while Carzzy joins from Berlin International Gaming.

Splyce earned its spot in the franchised LEC after negotiations with Movistar Riders and North fell through. The team finished fourth in the LEC 2019 spring playoffs, fifth-sixth in the LEC 2019 summer playoffs, second in the LEC 2019 regional finals and fifth-eighth at the 2019 League of Legends World Championship.
