State of Decay 2: how many players are eking out a survival in the co-op open-world zombie apocalypse?

State of Decay 2 is the sequel to 2013's State of Decay. Developed by Undead Labs and published by Microsoft Studios, State of Decay 2 sees teams of four players group up in the wide open-world in another iteration of the item-scavenging-and-crafting zombie survival game, this time with third-person perspective.

State of Decay 2 was released May 22, 2018, for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One. On Sept.12, 2018, the Daybreak DLC pack was released, adding in a horde-survival mode which added rewards available in the base game. In March 2019, the Choose Your Own Apocalypse update was added.

It received mixed-to-average reviews and healthy player interest.

State of Decay 2 How Many Players

Shortly after release, Microsoft reported that State of Decay 2 had seen over 1 million players since release. By June 4, 2018, it had climbed to 2 million players. By June 28, it had crossed 3 million players.

The most recent number cited in April was 5 million players, per a tweet from Xbox's Aaron Greenberg.
