The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive calendar year is oversaturated which has caused multiple teams to skip certain events. IEM, ESL, and DreamHack used to have a firm grasp on the market, but new arrivals in StarSeries, FACEIT, ELEAGUE, and now Blast Pro Series, have caused issues.
Teams are having to make difficult decisions on which tournaments to attend and which ones to skip all the while trying to balance a healthy lifestyle for the players.
IEM Chicago is set to start on July 18 and go through the weekend. There will be four more invited teams: two from Europe and two from North America. The final two spots will be given to qualifier winners.
