The participants are Team Liquid, NRG Esports, and Ghost Gaming from North America, ENCE and Team Vitality from Finland and France respectively, and finally Renegades from Australia. Four of these teams, ENCE, Renegades, Vitality, and NRG participated at the seventh StarSeries & i-League in Shanghai. Vitality and ENCE finished fifth through eighth, while NRG and Renegades finished third and fourth. ENCE has been perhaps the most surprising of these teams so far as the team finished second to the unstoppable Astralis at the IEM Katowice Major earlier this year.
This offline Summit series is sponsored by Los Angeles-based Beyond The Summit, which also produces content for Dota 2. There is a $150,000 prize pool with the champion taking $63,750.
This will be the fourth iteration of the tournament. The first cs_summit in mid 2017 saw SK Gaming defeat Gambit Esports. Team Liquid won the second Summit in early 2018 over Cloud9. The most recent Summit was taken by NRG Esports over OpTic Gaming in late 2018.
