Teamfight Tactics Patch 12.1 is the first patch release in 2022. Patch 12.1 was released after players voiced their need for changes after the 11.24 and 11.24B patches.
Game Designers at Riot Games have been working on Patch 12.1 for a while before the holidays. Riot Game Designer Stephen 'Mortdog' Mortimer explained the process of launching this patch in the new year on his YouTube channel.
The patch was being worked on for four weeks and when the TFT team got back to work after the holidays on Jan. 3, they "had one day to lock in all the patch changes, get it done, get it in the game" on time for the release on Jan. 5.
