The Callisto Protocol Performance Mode Explained

Striking Distance Studios

With the launch of The Callisto Protocol, some players have encountered some performance issues right out of the gate. Here's what you need to know about the game's Performance Mode.

If you're playing The Callisto Protocol on console, you're probably hoping to get the most out of your system. The PlayStation 4 achieves 1080p at 30 FPS, whereas the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox Series S has the game hitting 1440p at 30 FPS. But if you're playing on current gen consoles, you'll have two choices at hand depending on what you want to prioritize: Quality or Performance.

On PlayStation 5, Performance Mode allows The Callisto Protocol to hit 2160p at 60 FPS, with dynamic temporal reconstruction. This mode forfeits ray tracing in exchange for a higher framerate. The Xbox Series X has the same Performance Mode, reaching identical metrics.

The Callisto Protocol Performance Mode Explained

If you choose Quality Mode, on the PlayStation 5 this takes things down to 2160p at 30 FPS and includes both ray tracing and dynamic temporal reconstruction. Again, the Xbox Series X performs the same.

The Callisto Protocol might not be looking as striking on Performance Mode as it does on Quality, the increase to 60 FPS will likely create a better overall experience.

The Callisto Protocol is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC.
