Thwackey is one of many new Pokémon making their debut in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Roughly a third of all players will likely encounter Thwackey in their time with the game, as he's the evolved form of one of the games' three starters. Here's what you need to know about Thwackey.

Thwackey Evolution Pokémon Sword and Shield

Thwackey is itself an evolution. It is the second stage of evolution for Grookey, the Grass-Type Pokémon players can select at the start of the game as their first Pokémon. After enough leveling up, Thwackey can evolve into Rillaboom.

Typically, starter Pokémon can't be found in the wild of the same game. Accordingly, players will be hard up to find Thwackey or any other stage in its evolution chain out in the tall grass.

Thwackey has the following base stats:

  • Attack: 85
  • Defense: 70
  • Sp. Attack: 55
  • Sp. Def: 60
  • Speed: 80
