Total War Three Kingdoms Romance vs. Records is one of the game's more novel approaches to selecting a difficulty. The decision determines what level of detail the player will need to approach during their play through, and there are a few major differences it can be helpful to know before making the call.

Total War Three Kingdoms Romance vs Records: What's the Difference?

In the Romance option, the player will experience more story elements surrounding the generals they command. These generals will portrayed as heroes that can perform superhuman feats, and they'll further be able to level up and become even stronger.

The duel system is also available in the Romance option, which allows generals to battle face to face in the middle of battles without interference from the armies around them. The army on the losing side of the duel will suffer a huge morale loss.

In the Records option, generals are less powerful individual units, making the armies themselves the focus of combat. This places the tactics in the game at the center of the experience.

While neither option is strictly easier or harder, Romance makes the gameplay more mythical, while Records requires a little more attention to detail and gives a more grounded tactics experience.
