Fortnite Twitter informant, HYPEX (@HYPEX) has revealed the new lootpool for treasure maps making their way back into the game this season.

Treasure maps were first introduced in Fortnite in 2019. When found and picked up, they occupied a single item slot and would manifest a golden "x" mark on the map. Unsurprisingly, this mark corresponded to a spot of Buried Treasure that contained a random selection of rewards from a pre-determined pool of loot. In Chapter 3, these items continue to be popular in the community, leading to some data mined information regarding this season's treasure set circulating on social media.

According to HYPEX, players will be able to uncover the following rewards for their efforts in uncovering previously lost treasure:

  • 100 Gold
  • Crafting Materials and Ammunition
  • Two Heals: Minis (50%), Big Shield (40%), Medkit (10%)
  • Two Legendary Chapter 3 weapons

In the lattermost reveal, each weapon available in Chapter 3 will have a 14% drop chance. This, of course, includes the Heavy, Striker Pump, and Auto shotguns as well as the Stinger SMG, Hunter Bolt-Action Sniper, Sidearm Pistol, and both Ranger and MK-Seven assault rifles.

Each opened treasure will drop more than one weapon and heal, as well, making tracking down the new "X" marks pretty desirable.

Treasure maps can be found wherever normal loot can be picked up. Players can only have one map in their inventory at any time. As they approach the marked spot, it will begun to glow. Treasure can only be uncovered using the player's pickaxe or harvesting tool.
