Valheim Getting Started: First Day Guide
By Andrew Lin
Valheim getting started will be important to make the most of the first days in the game. The early days of survival games are always exciting, but sometimes formless. When given a world of possibilities and just as many things that want to kill you, what should you do to get started?
Valheim Getting Started: First Day Guide
Gather Wood, Make Tools
The first thing you'll need to get is wood. Wood will be the foundation of your game, so take the time to punch some trees and make wood. From here, you'll be able to craft a multitude of tools that will make creating shelter easier. The first tool you should make is the club, which sure beats punching enemies.
You'll also need to grab some stone to make better tools, so be sure to grab them whenever you can.
Forage
You don't need to hunt for animals just yet, so gather berries and the sort. In Valheim, you want to get a variety of foods.
Boars may attack you, but killing one will get you food and leather scraps that you'll need later on.
Build a Workbench
The Workbench will be the corner stone to your survival, letting you make better and better tools. The workbench can't be used in the open, so you'll have to build some walls and a roof to start.
Make a U shape around your workbench with four Wood Walls. Then, make two Thatched Roof tiles to cover. Finally, put two more walls on the sides to cover the gaps. Your workbench is now safe from the elements, and ready to use.
Make a Campfire and Bed
After you've crafted the basics, it's time to wind down. You need a campfire to sleep in your bed, and you need the bed as the respawn point. You'll need to build shelter over it, like the workbench. Get some rest after a hard day, and get ready for tomorrow.
From here you can start making your base. That's a different guide for a different day!
