In Valheim, reaching Workbench Level 5 is rare, but here is everything you need to know. Level 5 is the highest level a player can upgrade their Workbench, which turns it into a Tool Shelf. You will need to find a number of resources before you can obtain a Tool Shelf.

A Workbench's level is determined by the items that are placed near it. Essentially, each Workbench level has its own crafting recipe. Workbenches are used to craft the majority of items in Valheim, from armor and weapons to building materials.

Valheim Workbench Level 5: Everything You Need to Know

To initially craft a Workbench, all you will need is a Hammer. To upgrade the Workbench into a Tool Shelf, you will need to discover several items. They are:

  • 10 Fine Wood
  • 4 Iron
  • 4 Obsidian

Fine Wood is obtained by chopping down Birch and Oak trees in the Meadows and Plains biomes. Iron can be created by smelting Scrap Iron in a Smelter. Obsidian can be mined in the Mountains biome with an iron pickaxe.

Once you have acquired the necessary items, you can upgrade your Workbench by placing them within two meters of it. You will need to create the Tool Shelf near a Forge, but does not require one to function. The Tool Shelf will allow you to craft several items that no other Workbench can.

Valheim is currently in early access and is exclusively available on Steam. Developer Iron Gate Studio recently revealed its plans to bring more content to the game in the near future.
