Valorant Block List Might be Coming

The hottest topic of the week for Riot Games has been toxicity in their games.

Riot recently announced an upcoming change they are testing to reduce toxicity - disabling all chat in League of Legends. While this has already proven to be a controversial decision, the team at Valorant is looking to make sure they address these same concerns without offending the player base.

In a recent Reddit thread, a Valorant player brought up the idea of minimizing toxicity by implementing a block list feature to the game. With this, players could block a player and prevent themselves from getting into another game with the same toxic person. Many people chimed in noting that they strongly desire a feature in the game to prevent playing with toxic players.

Valorant Block List Might be Coming

Sara Dadafshar, a producer at Riot Games for Valorant weighed in on the discussion, "Hey there. I definitely understand the frustration when getting stacked up with... disruptive players."

"We're currently investigating ways in which we can effectively allow players to play with folks that are a little more up their play style." She went on to explain that a block list as it stands is not a good way to battle toxicity due to the ways it can be manipulated for an advantage.

But we now know that a feature that is similar in nature, but aims to achieve the same goal, is in development. "The idea isn't completely off the table. This concept is something that gets brought up often, and we are very down to implement some safe version of it that won't be abused, but keeps players protected as well. Updates to come," she said.
