Valorant Patch 4.01 Melee Changes Detailed
Riot has finally updated the melee attack to push players to utilize it more. As Riot confessed, aiming melee attacks has been a bit too tricky for the average player, making it tough to rely on as a viable attack option.
The following changes have been made to melee attacks:
- Right-click hitboxes are now 1.5x larger.
- Left-click hitboxes are now larger than a right click and have a slightly longer range too.
- Targets closer to the center of your knife attacks will get hit first, so you still have precision if you need it.
- Bonus: Knifing walls now have an instant feedback when slicing up walls (predicted on the client-side)
Hopefully, players will now be able to attack with these melee changes. Some have stated that these changes would be better with more credits added after a melee since it is such a difficult task to kill an agent with a melee attack. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for example awards more cash for those who secure a melee kill. Perhaps that's something Riot Games explores in the future.
