Assault rifles continue to shape the landscape for Call of Duty: Warzone. They're stable, reliable, and without a doubt they are the weapon class of preference when it comes to competitive and casual gameplay. Whether paired with a sniper rifle, SMG, or a ghost class chosen in the first loadout drop, these weapons define the play style of the player. Although versatile, each weapon has a proper time and place - and not every weapon is created equal.

As we look into this weapon tier list, please keep in mind that these rankings are based on the efficiency of the weapon itself, by itself. Starting from the top, we'll be working our way from weapons that don't depend on a secondary to those which need a great partner.

Warzone Assault Rifle Tier List February 2021

1. S-Tier: What Was My Secondary?

  • Kilo 141
  • Grau 5.56
  • CR-56 AMAX
  • M4A1

These are often the go-to weapons or favorites of pros, and they make casual play a bit simpler. The Kilo 141 and Grau 5.56 have long established their presence. They're consistent and accurate at range, and a big threat up close. While the AMAX doesn't have the full magazine capacity as the other three, its damage output and accuracy more than make up for the lack of bullets.

The M4A1 might come as a shock to some for it being in S-Tier, but make no mistake. Its stats are nearly identical to the Kilo 141. Its damage per second actually outclasses the Kilo and the Grau, with its base range only being one meter than both. Any player can comfortably go through a match with any of these four weapons without a secondary.

2. A-Tier: It's Strong, Not Perfect

  • M13
  • RAM-7
  • FFAR 1
  • FAL
  • Krig-6

These weapons are all viable options. They're still accurate, they still have great damage output, but they all have have some draw backs.

If there were a gun to be inducted into the S-Tier from A-Tier, it would be the RAM-7. Its base range and reload time hinder it just enough for it to need a secondary. If it had the damage output of the AMAX, easily an S-TIER weapon.

The FFAR 1, M13, FAL, and Krig-6 all have a combination of either high damage, high accuracy at range, or high fire rate. Sadly, none of them all three, so while strong as a primary, they're not perfect.

3. B-Tier: Bold Strategy

  • AS VAL
  • AN-94
  • Oden
  • AK-47 (Modern Warfare)
  • XM4

No one would deny that these weapons are okay choices with the right partner. Make sure you've got a great secondary if you're going to head out with these weapons in Verdansk. Between their lack of ammo, low damage range, and difficult recoil patterns, these weapons aren't stable on their own. Use them with strategy in mind.

4. C-Tier: Only Until It's Load Out Time

  • FN Scar
  • FR Famas 5.56
  • QBZ-83
  • AK-47 (Cold War)

Pick up any of these weapons, and you're bound to dominate the early game. They've all got great damage output for those close range fights during the early game when people are scrounging for weapons and armor. Admit it, you're dropping these guns as soon as the loadout drops. They belong on the ground.
