What are Side Steppers in Mario Kart Tour?
Side Steppers are the crabs. They made their first appearance in the original Mario Bros. arcade game, and are the second enemy you encounter there. In Mario Kart, they're just regular crabs that serve as obstacles.
You can find Side Steppers in Cheep Cheep Lagoon and Koopa Troopa Beach. They might spawn in different locations between laps. To take them out, you'll have to use an offensive item like a shell or just drive through them. Like the other "take out" challenges, you want to go on 50cc so you can line up your shot (or kart) more easily.

Using Koopa Trooper to get more Green Shells will give you more chances to get the Side Steppers if you don't want to throw the game by crashing into them.
