When Does Banjo-Kazooie Come to Nintendo Switch Online?
Banjo-Kazooie will be available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers in January 2022.
The announcement was made by the Nintendo Twitter on Friday, officially marking Banjo-Kazooie as the second N64 title to join the launch lineup after Paper Mario did so this week.
Other N64 titles expected to join Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack down the line as well are F-Zero X, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and Pokémon Snap.
In 1998, Banjo-Kazooie was first released on the Nintendo 64 and remains one of the most well-regarded 3D platformers of its time. Its addition to the Switch Online service will mark the first time Banjo-Kazooie has been re-released on a Nintendo console.
Banjo-Kazooie was developed by Rare, who regularly developed games for the Nintendo console — including its sequel Banjo-Tooie (2000) — until the studio was acquired by Microsoft in 2002.
Rare has published one Xbox-exclusive Banjo game since then — Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (2008), but did see their iconic bear-bird duo added to Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as DLC in 2019.
