Despite the negative attention, many have fully embraced Diablo Immortal. For those curious to learn a bit more, you might be wondering just when exactly the game takes place.

Where Does Diablo Immortal Fit into the Timeline?

Diablo Immortal takes place between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III, serving as both a sequel and prequel, respectively.

Set in the world of Sanctuary, Diablo Immortal takes place roughly five years after the events of Diablo II, in the year 1270. This also places the game roughly 15 years prior to that of Diablo III. In Immortal, players are greeted by recurring NPC Deckard Cain, who informs the player of the state of the world and the threats it faces.

From here, the player begins their journey through the world of Sanctuary, and experiences the state of the land between the events of two main entries into the series.
