When does Ho-Oh appear in Pokémon GO? The legendary bird Pokémon will return to Raid Battles in Pokémon GO, giving players another chance to add it to their Pokédexes. Here's what you need to know about Ho-Oh's next stint in Pokémon GO.

When Does Ho-Oh Appear in Pokémon GO?

Ho-Oh arrives in Pokémon GO on Friday, Jan. 1, at 4 p.m., ringing in the new year as the Legendary Raid Boss. The dual Fire- and Flying-Type Pokémon will stay in that position until Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 10 p.m. local time. The Pokémon will even be available in its Shiny form, at a rate of roughly one in 20 Ho-Ohs appearing as Shiny.

The best Pokémon for battling Ho-Oh include Rampardos, Shadow Tyranitar, Shadow Aerodactyl, Tyranitar and Rhyperior, as they can take advantage of Ho-Oh's weaknesses as a Fire- and Flying-Type. Smack Down, Rock Slide, Stone Edge and Rock Wrecker are all powerful moves against Ho-Oh.
