When Does LCS Start in 2022?

When does LCS start in 2022? The League of Legends Championship Series starts on Jan. 14, 2022 with the LCS Lock In tournament. The Lock In tournament has been the LCS' kick-off tournament for the past nine years and features all 10 teams battling for the win through groups and bracket stage.

The winners will receive the Lock In trophy, $150,000 and the first tournament win of 2022. Last year, the 2021 LCS Lock In tournament was won by Team Liquid with Cloud9 taking second place. On the LCS Twitter, they have announced the LCS Lock In Draft Results.

In Group A, fans will see 100 Thieves, Cloud9, Team SoloMid, Golden Guardians and FlyQuest. In Group B, Team Liquid, Immortals, Dignitas, CLG and Evil Geniuses will be battling. This tournament will showcase new and old members of each team and kick-off the 2022 season.

When Does LCS Start in 2022?

Along with the schedule for the 2022 Lock In tournament, Riot Games has also shared the timeline for the spring split and summer split. Here is a rundown on when each tournament will start and end.

1. Lock In

  • Start: Jan. 14, 2022
  • End: Jan. 30, 2022

2. Spring Split

Start: Feb. 5, 2022
Playoff begins: Apr. 2, 2022

3. Summer Split

Start: June 18, 2022
Playoff begins: Aug. 20, 2022

The LCS has also made a few changes. They have eliminated Academy Playoffs. All 10 Academy teams will qualify for Proving Grounds to face the top 10 amateur teams. Scouting Grounds will also not be returning in 2022. Also, regular season records will no longer carry over from spring to summer splits.
