When does PUBG Season 7 start? PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS Season 7 is set to start on April 28 across consoles. The update 7.1 has been available on Steam/PC since April 14 on PC test servers and was accompanied by PUBG Mobile was released on Friday, April 17.

Following some confusion regarding the announcements leading up to the start of Season 7, it seems now there is a clear picture - at least for consoles - regarding the launch across platforms. Developers PUBG Corp released a teaser video on April 4 for the upcoming season, and later, a fully fleshed-out trailer highlighting the various changes to the overall map.

PUBG Seasons usually run for a length of 12 weeks, and the map of Vikendi has been updated to reflect the change of season as well. The southern part of the map has been given a thawed-out appearance to reflect the change to spring, while the northern areas still have quite a bit of snowfall on the ground and in surrounding areas. As a result, snowmobiles and snow bikes have been completely removed from the map, yet new options can be found in their stead. More information regarding changes and tweaks to the map and game can be found in the official patch notes.

One change to Season 7 that already has loyal players unhappy is the current removal of the ranking system used in the past. So far, no replacement for the system is in place or has been announced, although devs have stated that something new is on the way, "The Survival Title System is being shelved this update, in preparation for a new system making its way in-game in a future update alongside our new Competitive Mode…”

Such a change without a firm, concrete direction for moving forward in the future has upset fans noticeably - a move that could prove costly for the fan-base of the game with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - Warzone enjoying unprecedented success in the Battle Royal genre since its release back in March 2020.
