When is cross-progression coming to Apex Legends? Now that the game is available on more platforms than ever — PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Origin and Nintendo Switch — and the players on each platform can meet one another in matchmaking using cross-platform play, it only follows Respawn Entertainment would add cross-progression to the game.

When is Cross-Progression Coming to Apex Legends?

Right now, the closest thing to cross-progression Apex Legends has is the ability to link an Origin account to a Steam account, allowing progress to pass from Origin to Steam now that the game is available on Valve's storefront and not just on EA's.

Respawn Entertainment game director Chad Grenier addressed the challenge of adding cross-progression when Apex Legends hit Nintendo Switch in March.

“I wouldn’t ever say [cross-progression] is not possible, but it’s certainly more challenging to add cross-progression to a game that’s been out for 2 years," Grenier said. "A lot of people have accounts on various platforms and trying to figure out the best way to pick or merge the account data is a challenge with many pros and cons. We’re certainly looking into cross-progression and it’s something that I think would be great for the game, but it’s still a ways off most likely.”

Grenier returned to the question in April, saying the team is working on adding cross-progression.

"It’s a lot more work than I thought it would be. But we are working on cross-progression that will allow people to carry over purchases, skins, account progress, regardless of which platform they’re playing on. It will probably be a little while longer, but eventually, we’ll have that."

For now, the timeline remains a mystery.
