We’ve put together a guide on where trainers can find Lucario in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Lucario has been a fan favorite of Generation IV since it starred in its own feature film Lucario and the Mystery of Mew (2005). With the film releasing just a year before the release of the original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl in 2006, it makes sense that fans would be wondering how to get their hands on this sturdy fighting and steel-type. This has only amplified with the release of the Sinnoh region remakes: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Here's how to get Lucario.
Where to Find Lucario in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
While trainers won't be able to pick up Lucario, itself, they will have the chance to get its pre-evolved form, Riolu. This requires them to be halfway through the gym challenge with access to the HM Surf as the only way to Riolu's home is via a boat from Canalave City.
Trainers can pick up the HM Surf from Cynthia's grandmother, the elder of Celestic Town. They'll need to have the fourth gym badge from Pastoria City to use the move, of course, but with these two steps completed they should have full access to Canalave City and its various ports.
After reaching Canalave City, trainers will need to cross the drawbridge to reach its western side and head all the way south until they come across a sailor standing in front of his boat. Interacting with him will allow them to take a trip to Iron Island.
Most of Iron Island is contained in a multi-floor cavern with level ~30 Pokemon—though the trainer's team is likely beyond this threshold by now. While exploring the second floor, they'll come across an NPC named Riley, who will offer them a Riolu egg. This is the only organic way to get Riolu and Lucario in-game.
How trainers go about hatching Riolu is up to them. Riolu evolves into Lucario while being leveled up with high enough friendship during the daytime.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
