Looking for Patches in Elden Ring? Here's what you need to know.

Patches is a recurring character in FromSoftware games. Appearing across the series in some form or another, Patches is known to be a deceptive sort. He was Patches the Hyena in Demon's Souls, Trusty Patches in Dark Souls, and even Patches the Spider in Bloodborne.

Don't worry - Patches makes his return in Elden Ring. This time, he's an NPC, merchant, and even a boss.

So, where can you find Patches in the Lands Between?

Patches Location in Elden Ring

Patches can first be encountered in Murkwater Cave in Limgrave. The entrance to the cave can be found roughly halfway through the Murkwater River with the opening visable with a standing torch nearby.

Making your way there can be tricky as players might run into the invader NPC, Bloody Finger Nerijus.

Murkwater Cave is a small location, and a Site of Grace can be found just beyond the entrance. Players will need to make their way through the cave where a number of Highwayman enemies will be roaming around. There are noise traps on the floor which, when triggered, will alert a few more Highwaymen to emerge from a path to the left.

Head down the right passage in the cave where you'll come to a yellow fog wall. Beyond that will be Patches' location, though players will need to interact with the chest in the room to trigger the fight.

When Patches is down to roughly half of his health, he'll surrender. Players can choose to spare him or keep fighting. If you spare him, he'll set up shop in the cave as a merchant. You'll also encounter him elsewhere in the Lands Between with his own quest being available later on in the game.

If you choose not to forgive him, and instead slay him, you'll receive Patches' Bell Bearing which can be given to the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold to unlock his shop items there.
