Where to Find Shaymin in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Trainers want to know where to find the adorable hedgehog-like Pokemon, Shaymin, in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Also known as the "Gratitude" Pokemon, Shaymin has stolen the hearts of several trainers due to its cute appearance and pure nature. Shaymin makes its home in flower patches, using them as camouflage to hide from those who would do it harm. It has the power to purify any environment by taking toxins into itself and dissolving them completely. When exposed to acts of gratitude, the flowers on its back bloom—appearing as Gracidea flowers.

Shaymin has two forms—it’s normal “land” form in which trainers will find it and its “sky” form.

Where to Find Shaymin in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Shaymin can be found in Flower Paradise, which is only available to visit once players get Oak's Letter. This is a special item distributed as part of a unique event that first ran in 2009—three years after the original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl release and one year after Shaymin's debut. Its last run within the United States occurred in 2016 for the franchise's 20th anniversary.

Along with the Azure Flute, Secret Key, and Member Card, Oak's Letter has no requirements and can be obtained whether or not the trainer has completed the main campaign or the PokeDex. The only action needed to obtain the item was to attend the event.

After receiving the appropriate programming, trainers would run into Prof. Oak from the Kanto region the next time they visit a PokeMart. He would hand over a letter that tasks them with heading to Route 224. There, they would find a white rock which, when interacted with, will ask them what they are most thankful for. Trainers can input whatever they'd like and that input will prompt the reveal of the Seabreak Path leading directly to Flower Paradise.

Shaymin will be waiting in Flower Paradise and can then be encountered and caught at level 30.
