Here's what you need to know in order to find the iconic Morph Ball in Metroid Dread.

The long-awaited Metroid Dread has finally launched on Switch, and fans everywhere are getting stuck into this sci-fi adventure. Initially conceived as a Nintendo DS game, Metroid Dread was put on hold for numerous years due to the limitation of the console. This only stoked the anticipation of fans, who hoped to see it get its full release in the future. Now, thanks to the Nintendo Switch, Metroid Dread had finally been able to get its deserved revival.

Upgrades and power-ups are a regular feature in Metroid games, with each new item allowing Samus to push on further and open up new paths. There's a certain item, though, which most players will be itching to get their hands on. Samus' famous Morph Ball. It's clear from the outset that there are certain passages designed specifically for this particular ability, but players will have to work for it in order to add it to their arsenal.

How to Get the Morph Ball in Metroid Dread

The Morph Ball ability opens up a whole new element to the Metroid world. To get it, players will need to defeat green E.M.M.I. residing in the Cataris region. It sounds easy enough, sure - but there are a few steps to go through first.

First, players will need to have found the Wide Beam ability in Dairon early on in the game. With this, players will need to defeat the Central Unit in Cataris. This can be found in the top-left corner room, in the E.M.M.I. zone. Players will need to break the metal shell before they're able to damage the unit itself, all while dodging blasters and red rings. After defeating the Central Unit, players will receive the Omega Blaster. This is the tool crucial in defeating the green E.M.M.I.

Use the Omega Blaster to leave the room and enter the next, where the green E.M.M.I. will be waiting. This one is a little bit faster than the previously encountered robots, so it's a good idea to try and get some distance. Use the Omega Blaster to overheat the robot's metal shell. Once the shell has been shattered, charge and fire the blaster again to finish it off. After defeating the E.M.M.I. the Morph Ball should be all yours, and with it comes a whole new world of maneuverability.
