It's time to talk about Team Rocket Boss Giovanni's favorite Pokemon: Persian.

Persian has been in Pokemon GO since the game's launch in July 2016. Before that, it was widely known as the favored partner Pokemon of Team Rocket's Giovanni and, thus, the "character" foil to the antagonistic Meowth. Alolan Persian was released in-game in June 2018 and the Pokemon's Galarian form, Perrserker, joined the game a couple of years later in June 2020.

Which is the Perfect Persian in Pokemon GO?

Persian is a unique case where each regional form has its own set of stats—especially when it comes to CP threshold.

The one thing they have it common is that they all come from their corresponding PokeDex number #052, Meowth, and can be evolved from it using 50 candies.

Each Persian has been sorted into its own subheading for reader convenience.

Kantonian Persian

The original Persian is from the Kanto region with a PokeDex number of #053. Also known as the "Classy Cat" Pokemon, its six whiskers give it a bold, fierce appearance. It uses these whiskers to sense danger in its environment. However, if trainers give it scritches in that area, it will immediately become friendly.

Kanto's Persian is a pure normal-type with a weakness to fighting-types and double resistance against ghost-types. It has the following stats:

  • Maximum CP: 1910
  • Maximum HP: 149
  • Attack: 150
  • Defense: 136
  • Stamina: 163

It's best moveset contains the quick move Scratch and charged move Return.

Alolan Persian

Who could forget the often called spherical appearance of Alolan Persian? According to its PokeDex entry, its rounded face is actually a "symbol of wealth" in the region. "Persian that have bigger, plumper faces are considered more beautiful," it reads. Like its Kanto cousin, Alolan Persian's PokeDex number is #053.

This Persian is a pure dark-type with vulnerabilities to bug, fairy, and fighting-types. It's strong against ghost and other dark-types with a double resistance to psychic-type attacks. It has the following stats:

  • Maximum CP: 2002
  • Maximum HP: 149
  • Attack: 158
  • Defense: 136
  • Stamina: 163

Its best moveset contains the quick move Feint Attack and charged move Foul Play.

(Galarian) Perrserker

Perrserker is the most unique of the Persian forms in Pokemon GO. Not only is this Pokemon not quadrupedal like its cousins, it also sports an entirely different name and PokeDex entry.

Perrserker is also known as the "Viking" Pokemon—likely due to the shape of the fur on its head. In fact, its PokeDex entry makes reference to this, citing that "what appears to be an iron helmet is actually hardened hair. It is best known for its fighting spirit and eagerness for battle. Perrserker's PokeDex number is #863.

As a pure steel-type, it has vulnerabilities to fire, fighting, and ground-types while being resistant to bug, dragon, fairy, flying, grass, ice, normal, psychic, and other steel-types. It has additional strength against poison-types.

Perrserker has the following stats:

  • Maximum CP: 2697
  • Maximum HP: 157
  • Attack: 195
  • Defense: 162
  • Stamina: 172

Its best moveset contains the quick move Metal Claw and charged move Ironhead.

Pokemon GO's Perfect Persian is...

Hands (paws?) down, the winner here is Perrserker. Not only is it pretty impressive in its own right, but it also has the highest CP threshold and most impressive stats. If that's not enough, its long list of resistances should seal the deal for any trainer looking to add a solid pure steel-type to their team—that isn't Registeel.
