The remake of Blizzard's popular role-playing game from 2000 drops today, Sept. 23. In the cinematic trailer that was released last week and old man named Marius refers to a person known as The Wanderer. The Wanderer is a key character in Diablo 2, making him very difficult to talk about without giving massive spoilers for the game's story. So take this as a spoiler warning before reading on.

Who is the Wanderer in Diablo II: Resurrected?

The wanderer is Prince Aidan of Khanduras, the eldest son of mad King Leoric. After returning from war Prince Aidan had discovered his younger brother Albrecht had been possessed by Diablo, the lord of Terror. After defeating Diablo and witnessing him change back into Albrecht, Aidan was so struck by grief that he decided to imprison Diablo by fusing with the soulstone. This of course drove Aidan mad and he began working with Adria to set up the events that take place in Diablo II.

The Dark Wanderer is the primary antagonist of Diablo II Resurrected's storyline before he decides to shed his human form and become the demon Diablo.
