Fans are left wondering why Overwatch 2 is not coming out in 2021 after receiving a major reveal by developers at BlizzConline. In a recent interview with Gamespot, Jeff Kaplan sought to give fans some answers about plans for the Overwatch franchise moving forward.

According to Kaplan, he fully understands the fans' excitement behind the game however he asks that gamers do better to practice patience in regards to their demands for a new title. Relating it to the release of World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade he reminds fans that the expansion although expected to release in Nov. 2006 didn't come out until Jan. 2007. All so that players would receive the best product they possibly could.

"I think there's a lot of people who get it and understand, and want us to take our time and make something great. And then there's a lot of people who don't get it, but they're just really excited and they need to let that passion out in some way, and we're okay with it."

Kaplan places an emphasis on the need for stability with the release of Overwatch 2, similar to the first game. It's clear that the team at Blizzard is committed to giving gamers the sequel that they've been dreaming of, all they ask is that they're afforded some time to make it as polished as it can be.
